Step Aboard and Experience It Yourself!
Welcome to VR Voyage! Step aboard and let yourself be transported to the most influential period in the history of the Netherlands and Amsterdam: the 17th century (1600 – 1700). Amsterdam grew into a metropolis and was the hub of trade and culture where merchants from all corners of the world came together.
During most of the boat tour, the VR headset will be off and you can enjoy the Amsterdam canals, have a drink and will receive historical information. Then, at various locations, you will put on your VR headset and experience your immediate surroundings (360° degrees) during the 17th century.
You will go back 400 years in time and travel with Virtual Reality to enchanting former Amsterdam. The neighborhoods you pass as well as many buildings are historical accurate reconstructions. Some buildings still exist and you will recognize them when the VR headset is off. During the animations you will receive information on the Amsterdam of the past.

- Boarding and disembarkation location: Leidsekade 101 (stairs down to the dock) – TEMPORARY PICK-UPLOCATION IS KEIZERSGRACHT 401 (1 FEB TO 31 MARCH)
- Tour duration: 75 min (7 animations)
- Animation duration: 15 min (7 animations)
- Food and drink: welcome drink will be served. Drinks and snacks are available to order
Languages: Dutch and English. Visitors can select Dutch or English as spoken language during the VR experience. The audio tour (VR headset off) is given in Dutch or English.
Our boats: luxury or classic salon boats as well as barges (converted historical ships). All boats are enclosed and have heating on board.
Target group: young and old (approx. 8 – 75 years) can enjoy this tour. The tour is easy and suitable for everyone. If you get carsick easily it could occur with VR. Several measures have been taken to ensure that the tour is pleasant for everyone (see ‘Frequently asked questions’).
